Dolly PentreathDorothy Jeffery, generally known by her maiden name of Dolly Pentreath:- daughter of Nicholas Pentreath, baptised at Paul on 17th May 1714, died at Mousehole in December 1777, buried at Paul on 27th December 1777. Dolly was reputed to be the last person to converse in the ancient Cornish language as her native tongue. In the wall of Paul churchyard, there is a monument to her showing that she died in 1777 at the age of 102 (though this age is unconfirmed). Read about her using these links: |
