Some of the Barnes family can be seen in the registers of Madron, Paul, Gulval and Ludgvan.

Newlyn is famous for its painters - one being Stanhope Forbes who immortilised my great-grandmother's son, Walter Barnes, in a portrait (oils on canvass) as they were very good friends and shared a love of music.

In 1931, at Penzance Walter Barnes - Pen Ylow (Chief of Music) - was made a Bard of the Cornish Gorseth for services to music in Cornwall.

If you are related to the Barn(e)s family, I would like to hear from you. I know, from my own research, that family links can be found in Australia, New Zealand and USA.
